The promise of digital therapeutics for disorders of gut-brain interaction
Kyle Staller reviews app-delivered gut-brain treatment and notes that both FDA-cleared products, including Regulora, a gut-directed hypnotherapy, cannot currently be prescribed in the United States, with reimbursement problems having pushed Regulora off the market.
The take
The competitive threat to hypnotherapists here is not the app, it is the absence of one. A gut-directed hypnotherapy product cleared the FDA pathway and still failed on reimbursement, which leaves gastroenterologists short of GI psychologists and without a digital fallback. That gap is addressable by any practitioner who can speak to a GI clinic in its own terms rather than in the language of the hypnosis field.
